The first successes
Passionate about comic strip from his earliest years, Jacques Glénat launched his first journal
devoted to comic strip in 1969, while still a student. This enabled him already to work with
some future great names: Franquin, Greg, Peyo, Hergé, Gotlib, ... In 1972, Jacques Glénat
gave up his studies, and launched himself into publishing : he was just 20 years old... His
first publications were a success, and he was rewarded with the prize for the best publisher
at the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée (International Comic Strip Festival) in
Angoulême in 1974. This success required appropriate logistical support : Editions Glénat
opened a shop in Paris, handled large stocks and opened huge warehouses near Paris...
