A publishing Group
Success in comic strip moved on : the first hardback albums in colour saw the light of day.
The Group’s comic strip journals brought comic strip out of the childhood realm, to which
it had previously been confined, by offering a presence to young talents, and presenting
classic series to the general public. The first of the big realistic and historical series came
into being at the start of the 80’s, and became best-sellers. And, in 1986, Editions Glénat
opened itself up to American products by bringing the Comics USA collection into
their catalogue... During this period, Jacques Glénat added another passion to his
activities, to run alongside comic strip : the love of mountains and the sea. From
1980, Glénat published their first books in this field, certain of which quickly
became best-sellers.
