Licensing rights

The licensing/rights activity today accounts for 10% of Glénat Group’s activities. It covers essentially the assignment of publishing rights to foreign publishers, thus enabling the distribution of the Group’s works in foreign languages throughout the world. This activity includes also the assignment of rights to press media who pre-publish or postpublish comic strip series in their pages.
But it includes equally the assignment of rights to television : the series Le Triangle Secret, Balade au Bout du Monde, Neige, Gil St André, Les Pieds Nickelés, or Giacomo C,… are being adapted to live feature film, whilst Titeuf and Zap Collège, Franky Snow, et Lou..., for example, are the subject of assignments for TV animation.
Finally, the Licensing/Rights activity covers the assignment of rights for characters or series included in the Glénat or Vents d’Ouest catalogues to companies wishing to take advantage of the image or the message conveyed by these titles, by labelling their products or communications (merchandising, promotion, advertising,…). The most sought after series at the moment are, for example, Titeuf or Joe Bar Team. The characters thus become the subject of numerous by-product licences, rigorously studied and accepted, through companies like Danone, Béghin-Say, Hallmark, Atari,…

Special editions

The Glénat Concept structure offers to private groups or institutions, the possibility to produce personalised special editions or even comic strip creations. Some prestigious names are included among the clients who have applied to the company to take advantage of its know-how and experience in this area, like Air France, Société Générale, EDF, Sony, Coca- Cola, Teisseire, Boiron, Procter and Gamble, Kodak, and even the town hall of Issy les Moulineaux….
